Week #48 - The Little Things........

 me and my cute gpa!
This week was such a happy week. Let me tell you why:
1. Hermano Silverio got baptized! (this was by far one of the happiest moments in my missionary life!) I really just felt so much joy from witnessing his growth and seeing him enter the waters of baptism was just so sweet. He cried on Sunday.
BAUTISMO DE SILVERIO GIMENEZ! :)

2. This week we were contacting a street and we noticed a house with the doors open. We contacted it and the lady invited us in to talk more. Her name is Pabla. She belongs to another Christian church but she told us that she wanted to know more about the Book of Mormon and that she never had the chance to read it before.... (so of course we gave her a copy!) She said that she would read it and ask God if it was true. She also added that if she knew it was true she would follow the will of God. She is great.
3. Last night we were really far away from our house (5 miles away) and it was really dark. We were searching for this boy that recently got baptized and we found his house! As we were there the mom got really concerned and said that we could not leave because there was a dangerous man on the streets. (one who was known for robbing at gun point....) and we were both really nervous. I said a quick prayer in my heart and within 3 minutes the bishop came by to do some ward business. We went home with him. Heavenly Father was listening to my prayers. He sure loves His missionaries.
4. I held a turtle.

XOXO

Week #47 - Feliz dia del padre!

Happy Father´s Day to my favorite man in the entire world! It was so sad not being able to be by my dad for this day. I missed him so much! Yesterday I read d&c 75:28
28 And again, verily I say unto you, that every man who is obliged to provide for his own family, let him provide, and he shall in nowise lose his crown; and let him labor in the church.
Thanks dad for always supporting me and my family and always doing your calling with faith in the Lord! :) You are the best papi!
This week we were able to have a fun father’s day activity. They asked me to do the activity and of course I said yes! I just love games! We played 7 minute to win it games. I don’t know if I have ever seen people laugh so hard in my entire life! Seriously, I think it was a great success! :) (a return missionary took some videos and i think she will put them on my Facebook... I don’t know) our investigator Silverio came and his son as well!
This week is the baptism of hermano Silverio and he is so excited! He will be getting baptized this week on Friday! Be excited everyone :)

On the evening of Father's Day, one of Hannah's friends that she spends a lot of time with sent this message and the following pictures.  Her family had Hannah and her companion over to their home to celebrate Father's Day.  She sent the following pictures.  THANK YOU MARTA!!

Week #46 - Prayers and Miracles

Our new wall. YAY for Liahona Magazines!!
There is no such joy or happiness than seeing someone you love so dearly progress and change to become more like Christ.

We have been teaching my cute little abuelo here in Paraguay. His name is Silverio. He is a miracle in my life. But the thing i love most is that he is applying what he is learning into his life, so that he can become better.
this is our cute investigator silverio

the cats of hno silverio were in his ceiling.... hahahaha i love them!
We always teach him about prayer and the importance of asking God with a sincere heart for things... and he has been doing that! He lives with two of his sons, Gustavo and Junior and they really have never wanted anything to do with the gospel. But Silverio has been praying. He has been praying that his children would have a change of heart and listen to our message. On Thursday, they came and listened. They asked us questions. One even asked for a Book of Mormon.

Prayer answered for hermano Silverio? Yes.

He also has been praying that they would come to church and try something new on Sunday.... guess what? They came! (They even came to church in the POURING down rain. It was a happy moment!)

Another prayer answered? Yes.

This week we as missionaries in the Ciudad del Este zone are focusing on prayers for us and for our investigators. We are so excited to help our investigators progress with more faith in the power of prayer! I know that He listens and that He helps us! :)

Week #45-Happy Hermana Hannah

This week I am going to tell you a little story of how perfect the timetable of the Lord is.

This week, I got pretty darn sick. I got some form of the stomach flu here in Paraguay. Let me tell you, it was not fun. I was in the apartment a little on Saturday and Sunday feeling kinda bad, but I am feeling a lot better now!

Yesterday after lunch with the Martinez family, I was feeling a little sick so I went back to the pension to rest. We were there for a little and the nurse said that I needed to rest. Around 5 at night I had this feeling that we needed to leave so we left.

We headed to our first appointment: Hno Selverio Jimenez. Not home. A little bummed? You could say that again. Feeling a little down, we headed to an area with a lot of investigators. As we were walking we passed a boy in our ward (he is leaving in a month for his mission in Honduras!) anyways he said that his mom got stung by a bee and she was really sick. We felt prompted to stop in and talk with her. (Her name is Hna Ramos and she is easily my mother here in Ciudad del Este. I love her so much.)

Anyways, I don’t know if I have ever seen anyone more sick. She was curled up on her bed. We were there just in time to help her! We sat with her for some time giving her a back rub and helping her feel better. We talked with her about our families and laughed at old pictures of all of her kids. She told us that we were an answer to her prayers.

looking back on that, i was extremely grateful for that opportunity. I was grateful that I listened to Heavenly Father to help a dear sister feel better. I am glad all of my back rubs with my own mom paid off!

p.s. Hno Selverio is really excited for his baptism! He is progressing great and we just love him so much! :)

Week #44 - 10 Months

Yep, it has been 10 months. I am officially DOUBLE DIGITS. WHAT! So I am training and it has been a good experience learning everything over again. I am training a girl from Mexico and her name is Hermana Gonzalez. Yep, my second compañera with the same name. I think I will just end my mission with a Hermana Gonzalez!

Hannah and her new companion from Mexico.....Hermana Gonzalez
Last week I shared a story of an old grandpa that we met. I want to share more about him! Ah, he is so cute. His name is Selverio Jimenez and he is 70 years old. We met him contacting and he came to church with us less than 12 hours after. We did not know if he would progress much, but his is. He is reading the Book of Mormon. Every time we pass his house, he is reading it. (Okay we pass his house a lot-- it’s exciting!) Anyways, he loves all of the lessons we have been teaching him. We had stake conference this weekend and it was super great. Elder Viñas came (of the seventy) and he spoke to all of the missionaries on Friday, and then on Saturday and Sunday we had stake conference.

So we went together, and Hermano Selverio came with us. He loves the church and all of the members! We are really hopeful that he will progress and be baptized later this month! :)

We found a whole family to teach. They are super Catholic, but they are learning and they all like to learn together. We always sing the songs with them.

This week I received the package from my family and Marissa. It was awesome. We have been eating sour patch watermelons and reading the Infinite Atonement like crazy! Overall, it was a good week! Thanks for your love, support, and prayers. I can feel it.
